How To Repair Nintendo Gamecube
You'll need a special tool, available on our website, to open the Gamecube. We
also suggest a
#1 and #2 Philips screwdriver and a small cleaning brush. Now
would be a good time to add fresh
grease to the laser assembly. All of these
items are available on our website.
gamecube screws
In this section, we'll repair that stuck "open door" button and remove the
laser.
These 4 screws require the special Gamecube tool. Then the cover lifts
right off.

Now remove the 2 screws circled in yellow on the right. You can now pull
the fan assy , clean it and let it lay there. Notice the 2 clips circled in red on
the right, this is the front panel, just pull it forward and let it lay there.
Remove the screws, circled in yellow, and continue removing all the screws
all the way around the outside edges.

First, let's fix that sticky door button. On the left, circled in yellow, you'll see
2 little tabs, just move them slightly and remove the door button. On the
right, circled in yellow is the door button and the slide screw. You'll need to
clean and dry these areas well, especially inside the well on the top where
you removed the button. This is where that brush is a must. Once you get it
all cleaned, you can put a little white grease on the button and around the
slide screw. Problem solved.

gamecube cables
Remove the screws circled in yellow on the left. Set the metal plate aside
and disconnect the cables, circled in red, on the right. The cable on the left
side of the right photo has a clip that pulls out to release the cable. The
motor connection is circled in yellow on the right, you don't have to remove
this unless you want to replace the motor.
gamecube laser
To remove the laser, remove the 2 screws circled in yellow. Carefully lift it
out.
