Remove front faceplate by grabbing the memory card holes and pulling. It should snap off. Don't worry, it won't break. At this point you can put on your custom faceplate.

This is the only hard part. If you get the special tool, this will be real easy. Or you can use a small flat-head pocket screwdriver to release these above. You need a fine point tool, like the 360 tool, a small punch or a strong paper clip for these below. They are hard to see, but they're there. Try pulling gently on the sides while pushing the tabs.

Above is a photo of the tabs on the sides that you are trying to release.

There are six of these tabs on each side. You slip the 360 tool in, pry gently and the sides come right off. One of the rubber feet on the bottom will have to be removed also. In the photo at the very top, it's the one all the way in the back, on the right. You have to get the sides off before the rest of the case will open. Notice the catches on the front of the case, pretty easy.

Now the bottom is off, let's remove the top. Remove the Torx screws from the bottom, circled in green. It's a size T10, available on our web site or it's included with the special tool. Those other screws can stay in, you would need a size T8 to remove them, and most people won't need to. The T8 is also included with the special tool. CAUTION: The DVD drive is now loose, it will fall out. Hold the top on while you turn it over on it's bottom. Now lift the top off.

Now you can remove the DVD bezel button, just squeeze on the clip circled in green above. The DVD tray cover will now lift off with a little prying.

Remove the air cowling by prying the tab gently.

Now take your small brush, available on our web site, and clean the fans, heat sinks and cowling. Remove the fans, if needed, by prying gently on the tabs.

Remove the IR module by releasing the clips. That's it. Just put it back together, if you lose some rubber feet, you can get them here.
